In Southwest Virginia and Northeast Tennessee,  we work hard for your recreational business; it’s  an important part of our economy.

About six miles “down the road” from Adventure Mendota sits the world-famous Carter Family Fold.   Janette Carter was a lunch lady at Hilton’s Elementary School when she promised her daddy (A.P. Carter) she’d keep Carter Family music alive. She kept that promise and demonstrated what hard work, talent and dreams can deliver. Janette’s courage inspired us to attempt this dream called Adventure Mendota. We miss you Janette. Why not visit Adventure Mendota on Saturday during the day and go visit the Fold on Saturday night?

Plan to visit other places during your visit!   Laugh and cry at our theaters.  Cheer at our racetrack.   Tap your feet to our music.   Hike and bike our trails.  Play in our lakes and streams.   Enjoy our restaurants.   The following are links to just a few of our friends that you may want to consider visiting!

Stay With Friends!

As we’ve met friends and built relationships, we have found folks that we feel comfortable partnering with and recommending to others.   Some places to stay that we like and recommend:

Hampton Inn, Abingdon, 340 Commerce Drive, Abingdon, VA   276-619-4600     Free Wi-Fi, Free Hot Breakfast.  Very nice pool.  Very clean.  However, it’s the General Manager his staff that set the Hampton Inn Abingdon aside.   They work hard to see that your needs are exceeded.

If a hotel is not your first choice and you’re looking for a unique and comfortable “home” environment with three bedrooms, a fully-furnished kitchen where you may fish, cook your own meals, or reconnect on a beautiful deck overlooking the creek, consider Rockybrook at Miller’s Cabin.     Learn more about this historic cabin with modern amenities and allow  Regina and Stan to introduce themselves by visiting

RiverCliff Cottage Rental If you are kayaking with Adventure Mendota, biking through the area and wish to take respite for night, or going to the historic Carter Family Fold, consider staying a night in our fully-furnished rental apartment.   You’ll be in your own secluded one-bedroom apartment with clean sheets dried on the cothesline. Love the quilt? Me, too. Apt-Bedroom1 Circle It’s got a sunny kitchen complete with pots and pans, dishwasher, etc. You can cook up a storm! Apt-Kitchen-Table Oval Our one-bedroom apartment has hi-def tv, outgoing calls, and a sleeper sofa in the living room so four may be accommodated.
